Who needs big city when you’ve got Shipshewana for entertainment? No need to fight traffic or crowds. We have musical theater, concerts, guy stuff, girl stuff, and kid stuff. We even have pet stuff!

As they say in The Good Word, “…The Last Shall Be First,” and that’s true for August. We’ll begin with the headlining concert that falls on the last day of the month:
Clint Black, 8/31, Shipshewana Event Center
Country Music star Clint Black performs August 31.
Country Music’s ten-time platinum selling artist who entertains all over the world visits Shipshewana on the last day of the month.
Prolific singer-songwriter Clint Black has long been heralded as one of Country Music’s brightest stars. To date, Black has written, recorded, and released more than 100 songs; more than 20 million of his albums have been sold worldwide.
The Confession, 8/5-12/7, Blue Gate Theater, Shipshewana
Now in its fourth year, “The Confession: The Musical” is a captivating story of a young Amish woman caught in the middle of secrets and scandal … and personal heartache and healing.
Triumphant Quartet, 8/8-8/9, Blue Gate Theater, Shipshewana
This acclaimed Southern Gospel group has been touring together since 2003 when they began their ministry at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Civil War History Day, 8/10, 7 am-4 pm, LaGrange County Courthouse, LaGrange

Come experience artisans in period costumes, historical reenactments, artifacts & memorabilia, food, music, and activities for the entire family. Impressions will be based on actual LaGrange County Civil War soldiers. Hosted by the 44th Indiana Historical Association. Free admission; charge for food.
Buddy’s Book Signing, 8/10, LaGrange
Buddy’s Buds is a book written by local students and adults.
A book signing of Buddy’s Buds will be held at My Father’s Bookstore in LaGrange. Proceeds from the purchase of the book will assist the Ark Animal Rescue and Adoption at the Ark Sanctuary in LaGrange, a no-kill adoptable facility.
32nd Annual Steam & Gas Show, 8/8-8/11, LaGrange
This very popular event held on the 4-H Fairgrounds features antique farm machinery, steam engines, antique tractors, as well as entertainment and special activities. Hosted by the Northern Indiana Steam and Gas Association, admission is $4.00 per person ages 13 and up.
Steel Magnolias, 8/9-8/10, Essenhaus Heritage Hall
This 1989 movie, now a musical, features main characters who are both as delicate as magnolias and also tough as steel.
Greater Vision, 8/15-8/16, Blue Gate Theater, Shipshewana
Since organizing in 1990, Greater Vision has been inspiring audiences with their rich vocal blend and their effective ability to communicate the message of the Gospel.
3rd Annual Classic Car, Truck, and Street Rod Show, 8/17, Howe School, Howe
This classic car-lover’s event, hosted by Howe Military School Alumni Association, runs from 10 am-2 pm and features winners in a number of divisions.

Legacy Five, 8/22, 8/23, Blue Gate Theater, Shipshewana
This group’s smooth rich harmony and ability to effectively communicate with audiences of all ages creates musical excitement and a great evening for the entire family. Two concerts are featured.
Essenhaus Quilt & Fiber Show, 8/23-8/24, Das Dutchman Essenhaus Inn & Conference Center, Middlebury
This ever-popular quilt show has some added features for this year. Not only will quilts be displayed, natural fibers, fiber crafted supplies, and items produced from natural fibers will also be on hand. Admission Fee: $3.00.
Dinner with Donna Kooistra, 8/23, Das Dutchman Essenhaus, 6:30-8:00 pm
AQS Certified and textile appraiser Donna Kooistra will share the captivating and informative story of how quilts have evolved and changed throughout the course of history. This event is held in conjunction with the Essenhaus Quilt & Fiber Show, and the admission cost includes a buffet-style dinner along with entertainment.
Newbury Square Swap Meet & Flea Market, 8/24, Newbury Square, ¼ mile west of SR 5 on US 20, Shipshewana
This outdoor shopping experience is much smaller than Shipshewana’s weekly flea market but offers a variety of items for swap or sale. $2.00 parking fee.
David Rogers Day, 8/24, David Rogers Memorial Park, Wolcottville

Return to an earlier day when skilled crafters made everything by hand and a community get-together was a chance for fun and games. Youth activities and games will be featured as well. Programs and games are from noon-6 pm. Folk dance with live music and a caller is 6-8 pm.
David Rogers Memorial Park is at 2355W 550 South, Wolcottville.
Annie Moses Band, 8/28, Shipshewana Event Center
A blend of fiddle, jazz, and classical influences, fused with soaring, folk-inspired vocals create a sound that is both refreshing and familiar. Their music is a tapestry of Americana favorites and original tunes.
Phillips, Craig and Dean, 8/29, Shipshewana Event Center
Three full-time pastors at different churches in different cities, these men were uniquely brought together to write songs that answer life’s most poignant questions. Although first known for softer inspirational hits, this trio has journeyed into praise and worship territory in recent years.
Mark Lowry & Russ Taff, 8/30, Shipshewana Event Center
Gospel’s favorite singer, songwriter, and comedian is joined by one of the most recognizable voices in Christian music for an evening of humor and harmony. Mark Lowry has been making his audience laugh and cry for over 40 years; Russ Taff, lead singer for The Imperials in the 70s and later with the Gaither Vocal Band and as a solo artist. Both musicians continue to tour and draw large audiences.
